Big idea: The LORD is greater than every false god.
Memory verse:
And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

The Tower of Babel
Genesis 11:1–9 · story film
After the flood the whole earth had one language. On a plain in the land of Shinar the people made bricks and began to build a city and a tower whose top might reach unto heaven, to make a name for themselves. The LORD came down, confounded their language so they could not understand one another, and scattered them abroad, so the place was called Babel.
Big idea: All the glory belongs to God, not to us.
Memory verse:
Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.
Psalm 115:1 (KJV)Ask: What did the people build with? Brick instead of stone, and slime (a kind of tar) for mortar (Genesis 11:3).

Abram Lets Lot Choose
Genesis 13:1–18 · story film
Abram and his nephew Lot had so many flocks, herds and tents that the land could not hold them both, and their herdmen began to quarrel. Abram said there should be no strife between them, “for we be brethren,” and he let Lot choose first; Lot chose the well-watered plain of Jordan. Then God told Abram to look northward, southward, eastward and westward, and promised all that land to him and his seed for ever.
Big idea: Peacemakers put others first and trust God to take care of them.
Memory verse:
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Matthew 5:9 (KJV)Ask: Why could Abram and Lot not dwell together? Their substance was so great that the land could not bear them, and their herdmen had strife (Genesis 13:6–7).
Game: Stand Up Together (about 10 minutes)

Joseph Saves Egypt
Genesis 41:37–57 · story film
Pharaoh saw that the Spirit of God was in Joseph and set him over all the land of Egypt, with his own ring, fine linen and a gold chain. In the seven years of plenty Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, and when the famine came there was bread in Egypt. Pharaoh told the hungry people, “Go unto Joseph,” and all countries came to Egypt to buy corn.
Big idea: God lifts up the humble and uses them to help many people.
Memory verse:
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
James 4:10 (KJV)Ask: What did Pharaoh say about Joseph? “Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?” (Genesis 41:38).
Game: Go Unto Joseph (about 10 minutes)

The Silver Cup
Genesis 43:1–44:34 · story film
When the food ran out, Judah promised his father, “I will be surety for him,” and the brothers took Benjamin down to Egypt. Joseph wept in secret when he saw his younger brother, feasted them all in his house, and then had his silver cup hidden in Benjamin’s sack to test them. When the cup was found, Judah, who had once helped sell Joseph, begged to stay as a servant in Benjamin’s place so that the lad could go home to his father.
Big idea: God can change our hearts so that we put others before ourselves.
Memory verse:
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13 (KJV)Ask: What did Judah promise his father Jacob about Benjamin? That he would be surety for him: if he did not bring Benjamin back, he would bear the blame for ever (Genesis 43:9).
Game: Grain Sack Race (about 10 minutes)

Gideon’s Three Hundred
Judges 7:1–25 · story film
Gideon gathered thousands of men against the Midianites, but God said there were too many, so that no one could boast, “Mine own hand hath saved me.” God sent home everyone who was afraid and then kept only the three hundred men who lapped the water. At night they stood round the camp with trumpets and with lamps hidden in empty pitchers; they blew, broke the pitchers and cried, “The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon,” and the whole host of Midian ran away.
Big idea: God can win with a few, so that all the glory goes to Him.
Memory verse:
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Psalm 20:7 (KJV)Ask: Why did God say Gideon had too many men? So Israel would not boast, “Mine own hand hath saved me” (Judges 7:2).

Naaman Is Healed
2 Kings 5:1–19 · story film

Elisha sent word to wash in Jordan seven times; Naaman was angry at first, but he listened to his servants, dipped seven times, and his flesh came again like the flesh of a little child. Jesus Himself remembered Naaman to show that God’s mercy reaches every nation (Luke 4:27).
Big idea: God graciously heals and saves those who humbly trust His word.

King Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand lords and drank from the golden vessels taken from God’s temple in Jerusalem, praising gods of gold and silver. Suddenly the fingers of a man’s hand wrote on the wall, and none of the king’s wise men could read it. Daniel read MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN: the proud king had been weighed in the balances and found wanting, and that very night the kingdom passed to Darius the Median.
Big idea: God sees everything, so we should honour Him instead of being proud.
Memory verse:
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 16:18 (KJV)Ask: What did Belshazzar and his lords drink from at the feast? The golden and silver vessels taken out of the temple in Jerusalem (Daniel 5:2–3).
