Lessons to start with

Moses Runs to Midian
Exodus 2:11–25 · story film
When Moses was grown, he went out to see the hard burdens of his people, and when he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, he tried to help in his own way and killed the Egyptian. Pharaoh sought to slay him, so Moses fled to the land of Midian, where he stood up for seven sisters at a well, married Zipporah, and kept sheep as “a stranger in a strange land.” Meanwhile the children of Israel cried out in their bondage, and God heard them and remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
Big idea: God hears the cry of His people, and He never forgets His promises.
Memory verse:
The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
Psalm 34:15 (KJV)Ask: Why did Moses run away to Midian? Because Pharaoh heard what Moses had done and sought to slay him (Exodus 2:15).
Game: Sheep Herding (about 10 minutes)

The Burning Bush
Exodus 3:1–4:17 · story film
While keeping sheep near Mount Horeb, Moses saw a bush that burned with fire but was not consumed. God called to him from the bush and sent him to bring His people out of Egypt.
Big idea: God is holy, and He goes with those He sends.
Memory verse:
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
Exodus 3:14 (KJV)Ask: What was strange about the bush? It burned with fire but was not consumed.
Game: Holy Ground Shoe Scramble (about 8 minutes)

The Plagues on Egypt
Exodus 7:14–10:29 · story film
God sent plagues on Egypt: the river turned to blood, then frogs, lice, flies, sickness on the cattle, boils, hail, locusts and three days of darkness. But where God’s people lived in Goshen, there was light.
Big idea: The LORD is greater than every false god.
Memory verse:
And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
Exodus 9:16 (KJV)Ask: What happened to the river first? It turned to blood.
Game: Plague Toss (about 10 minutes)

Crossing the Red Sea
Exodus 13:17–14:31 · story film
God led His people with a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night. At the Red Sea, with Pharaoh’s army behind them, Moses stretched out his hand and the waters stood as a wall on the right and the left. Israel walked through on dry ground.
Big idea: God makes a way where there is no way.
Memory verse:
The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
Exodus 14:14 (KJV)Ask: How did God lead the people? With a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
Game: Dry Ground Dash (about 10 minutes)

Bread from Heaven
Exodus 16:1–36 · story film
In the wilderness the people complained that they were hungry. God sent quails in the evening and, in the morning, small white bread called manna on the ground. They gathered it every day, and twice as much before the sabbath.
Big idea: God gives us what we need, day by day.
Memory verse:
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Exodus 16:4 (KJV)Ask: What came in the evening? Quails.
Game: Gather the Manna (about 10 minutes)

Water from the Rock
Exodus 17:1–7 · story film
At Rephidim there was no water and the people argued with Moses. God told Moses to strike the rock in Horeb with his rod, and water came out for everyone to drink.
Big idea: We can bring our needs to God instead of complaining.
Memory verse:
Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Exodus 17:6 (KJV)Ask: What did the people need? Water to drink.
Game: Grumble or Trust? (about 8 minutes)

The Ten Commandments
Exodus 19:1–20:21 · Deuteronomy 5 · story film
At Mount Sinai there was thunder, lightning, a thick cloud and the sound of a trumpet. God came down on the mountain and spoke the Ten Commandments, and later wrote them on two tables of stone.
Big idea: God gives us His law because He loves us.
Memory verse:
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exodus 20:3 (KJV)Ask: Where did God give the Ten Commandments? On Mount Sinai.
Game: Two Tablets Toss (about 10 minutes)

The Golden Calf
Exodus 32:1–34:9 · story film
While Moses was on the mount, the people asked Aaron to make a god. He made a golden calf and they worshipped it. Moses prayed for the people, and God showed that He is merciful and gracious.
Big idea: Only God deserves our worship, and He is merciful when we turn back.
Memory verse:
And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Exodus 34:6 (KJV)Ask: What did Aaron make? A golden calf.
Game: Musical Statues (about 8 minutes)
