Summit Quest VBS
Lift your eyes. Our help comes from the LORD.. On every mountain in the Bible, God showed His people who He is.
Theme verse
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.Psalm 121:1–2 (KJV)
The five days
Day 1 · Mount Moriah
God will provide.
Bible story: God Will Provide (Genesis 22:1–19)
Apply it: Abraham climbed the mountain trusting God, and God provided a ram in Isaac’s place. Long after, God provided His own Son, Jesus, the Lamb who takes away our sin. God knows what we need before we ask. When you are worried about what comes next, say with Abraham, “God will provide.”
Day 2 · Mount Sinai
God’s ways are good.
Bible story: The Ten Commandments (Exodus 19:1–20:21 · Deuteronomy 5)
Apply it: God gave His commandments on the mountain not to spoil our fun, but because He loves us and knows the best way to live. Like a trail map keeps hikers safe, God’s Word keeps us on the right path. We can’t keep it perfectly, which shows our need for Jesus, but with His help we can choose His ways today.
Day 3 · Mount Carmel
The LORD is the one true God.
Bible story: Fire on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:17–39)
Apply it: Baal’s prophets shouted all day and nothing happened. Elijah prayed one prayer, and fire fell from heaven. Elijah asked, “How long halt ye between two opinions?” People still trust many things instead of God. Following God means choosing Him all the way, not halfway.
Day 4 · Calvary Hill
Jesus died for me and rose again.
Bible story: The Crucifixion and Resurrection Story (Matthew 26–28 · Mark 14–16 · Luke 22–24 · John 18–20)
Apply it: There’s a canyon between us and God that no one can climb across: our sin. Jesus became the bridge. He died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. We can’t reach God by trying harder; we cross over by trusting Jesus. Anyone can cross today.
Day 5 · Galilee Summit
Jesus sends me to tell the world.
Bible story: The Great Commission (Matthew 28:16–20 · Mark 16:15–16)
Apply it: On a mountain, Jesus told His followers to go and make disciples of all nations, and promised, “Lo, I am with you alway.” The good news is meant to travel. You don’t have to cross the world to start; begin with your street, your school, your team.
