Ruth in the Fields of Boaz
Ruth 2:1–4:17 · story film
Ruth went out to glean barley behind the reapers, and she came to the field of Boaz, a kinsman of Naomi’s husband. Boaz was kind to her because of her love for Naomi: he let her glean among the sheaves and told his young men to let fall handfuls on purpose for her. Later Boaz redeemed the family’s land and married Ruth, and their son Obed became the grandfather of King David, from whose family Jesus was born (Matthew 1:5–16).
Big idea: God takes care of those who come to trust under His wings.
Memory verse:
The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
Ruth 2:12 (KJV)Ask: In whose field did Ruth glean? The field of Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech (Ruth 2:3).
Game: Gleaning Relay (about 10 minutes)

David Spares Saul
1 Samuel 24:1–22 · story film
Jealous King Saul took three thousand men to hunt David upon the rocks of the wild goats. Saul went into the very cave where David and his men were hiding, and David’s men told him to harm the king, but David only cut off the skirt of Saul’s robe, and even that troubled his heart. He would not lift his hand against the LORD’s anointed, and when he called after Saul and bowed before him, Saul wept and said, “Thou art more righteous than I.”
Big idea: God helps us to return good for evil.
Memory verse:
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21 (KJV)Ask: Where was David hiding when Saul came in? In the sides of a cave in the wilderness of En-gedi (1 Samuel 24:1–3).
Game: Snip the Robe (about 10 minutes)

Kindness to Mephibosheth
2 Samuel 9:1–13 · story film
When David was king, he remembered his promise to his friend Jonathan and asked, “Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” He found Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth, who was lame on both his feet, and brought him to the palace. David said, “Fear not,” gave him back all the land of Saul, and Mephibosheth ate at the king’s table continually, as one of the king’s sons.
Big idea: God has been kind to us, and He wants us to show His kindness to others.
Memory verse:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)Ask: Why did David want to show kindness to someone from Saul’s house? For Jonathan’s sake, because Jonathan was his friend (2 Samuel 9:1).
Game: Room at the Table (about 10 minutes)

The Good Samaritan
Luke 10:25–37 · story film
A lawyer asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbour?” Jesus told of a man beaten by thieves. A priest and a Levite passed by, but a Samaritan stopped, bound his wounds and cared for him.
Big idea: Be a neighbour to anyone who needs help.
Memory verse:
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Luke 10:27 (KJV)Ask: Who passed by the hurt man without helping? A priest and a Levite.

Dorcas Lives Again
Acts 9:36–43 · story film
Dorcas was full of good works and made coats and garments for widows. When she died, Peter knelt down, prayed, and said, “Tabitha, arise,” and she opened her eyes.
Big idea: Small kindnesses matter to God.
Memory verse:
Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
Acts 9:36 (KJV)Ask: What town did Dorcas live in? Joppa.
Game: Coats for Neighbors (about 15 minutes)

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Big idea: God helps us use our words for good.
Memory verse:
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
